Purpose
To develop, manage and expand relationships with members and potential members who are profitable or have a high potential for profitability by providing professional and quality member service and sales that meets or exceeds member expectations. To promote and sell a full range of financial products and services including insurance and investment products, as well as home equity loans, based on member needs.
 
Roles & Responsibilities
TEAMWORK: Builds and maintains an effective working relationship with all peers. Coordinates and integrates departmental work activities with co-workers' work activities. Positively contributes to teams and other work groups to carry out departmental projects. PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Assists management with projects. Provides constructive input for the Action Plan Process to facilitate project planning and implementation. Assists in the identification of resources required, costs, benefits, timelines, implementation schedules, and evaluation. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: Supports and operates within departmental budget in cooperation with co-workers. Is familiar with departmental budget operating reports and variance reports. STAFF DEVELOPMENT: Attends workshops, seminars, or other developmental opportunities as identified to improve individual and or team performance. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Monitors and identifies personal/professional development needs and maintains capabilities consistent with the organization’s philosophy and values through special project assignments, technical workshops and seminars, reading, reflection, course work, and management development opportunities and activities. PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT: Positively contributes to the performance management process by setting goals, completing self-evaluations and actively participating in quarterly performance feedback sessions. E-COMMERCE: Supports and operates within e-commerce strategy maximizing the use of technology whenever possible. Is familiar with technology applicable to the position and is proficient at using existing technology. Positively contributes to e-commerce activities by identifying processes or procedures that can be streamlined and/or automated. COMMUNICATION: Actively participates in periodic staff meetings. Provides information to co-workers and manager/supervisor in a timely manner. Models communication actions consistent with department communication commitments. CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP: Represents the credit union at appropriate internal events, professional organizations, and community events/programs. COMPLIANCE: Acquires and maintains the necessary working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations and credit union bylaws and policies in order to ensure compliance when selling Credit Union services and products. PROFESSIONALISM: Must display a pleasant, professional manner and positive attitude on the job and follow guidelines established in the Credit Union's Policy Manual, including the Code of Ethics, Telecommunications Policy, dress code and attendance areas. SAFETY: Works safely and uses safety/ergonomic equipment provided.8 Reports defects in work area, or equipment promptly. Keeps equipment in proper working order to maintain a safe work environment. MISCELLANEOUS: Performs all other related duties as assigned.
  • A. Meet with members and potential members who are profitable or have a high potential for profitability (in person, telephone, internet) to discuss financial needs and requirements; sell appropriate financial products and services, including insurance products, and review asset allocation, to meet members needs while developing and expanding member relationships.
  • Utilizes financial planning software. Help determine the member's savings needs.
  • Identify members with additional profit potential and develop action plans to develop and expand those relationships
  • Recognize and refer cross sell opportunities, including insurance and investment referrals, to meet member needs and develop and expand account relationships
  • Meets sales and/or referral goals as determined by management.
  • Provide a superior level of service and support to all members and staff.
  • Complete all sales/referral activity documentation to provide a record for performance tracking and assist in targeting future sales efforts in our CRM system.
  • Obtain Notary Public.
  • Represent the credit union in community organizations and activities to enhance the credit union’s image and promote and develop business.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned including providing guidance and training to less experienced personnel and assisting in member service and operational activities as required.
 
Reports To
This position reports to Chief Operating Manager, Insurance, Investment and Retirement Services.
 
Qualifications
Knowledge A. Detailed knowledge of all Credit Union products, services and procedures (Deposit, Loan, self delivery channels, etc.) B. Advanced knowledge of Operating Systems and ability to navigate within the systems C. Knowledge of: sales/marketing, bank operations, bank regulations, compliance and policy issues, bank products and services, and customer service. D. General knowledge of banking and the principles of banking Skills A. Outstanding organizational skills and ability to multi-task B. Strong communication (verbal and written), C. High level of sales, service, cross selling, relationship building and analytical skills D. Team building skills Abilities A. Self motivated, self directed and able to work independently B. Able to provide and maintain quality member service and relationship building as a standard practice C. Ability to motivate co-workers to meet and exceed branch goals D. Able to work ion a team environment E. Able to obtain Notary License F. Able to obtain required NY State Insurance licenses as listed in job description G. New York State SEC Series 65 license. H. Additional securities licenses preferred such as 7 and 24. I. Ability to learn and utilize asset Allocation Software. J. CE requirements. K. All mandatory compliance and continuing education requirements must be met.
  • Bachelors Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Three year minimum of member service experience and/or sales background. Must project a professional image.
  • Lending experience preferred
  • Obtain and maintain an active NYS insurance licensing for life, property and casualty. Initiate home equity loans.
  • New York State SEC series 65 license.
  • Effective customer service and problem resolution skills and the ability to maintain a high level of quality of member service and sales standards is a must.
  • Efficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and other PC applications.
  • Strong sales, communication (oral and written), cross-selling, sales planning, decision making and analytical skill.
  • Work Saturdays.
  • Ability to meet with members or potential members during of branch hours.
