Manager Member Business Lending / Loan Analyst Apply Now
 
Purpose
Plans, directs and organizes all Member Business lending activities such as loan and deposit products. Responsible for portfolio quality and profitability and the development of business lending and operational processes, policies and procedures. Analyze financial statements of potential business borrowers and prepares loan write-ups for presentation to the Business Loan Committee. Monitor receipt of on-going financial information of existing borrowers and updates write-ups with the new information.
 
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Supervises the Business Lending Department
  • Takes the lead in planning business goals of the Member Business unit, particularly those relating to loan volume, type, growth, delinquency ratio and profitability.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, procedures and conforming to regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and monitor the daily operating activities of personnel under direction, assuring prompt service while meeting department goals.
  • Exercises the authority of a manager concerning staff, performance appraisals, hiring, promotions, salary recommendations and terminations.
  • Maintain superior skill sets regarding all technologies used in the department.
  • Develop and maintain a department budget and monitors actual versus planned results.
  • Analyze and monitor lending and deposit interest rates and recommend changes as needed.
  • Survey and prepare rate and fee comparative analysis and recommendations for Pricing Committee review.
  • Serves a member of the Pricing Committee.
  • Deliver lending training sessions to organizational personnel.
  • Develop sales strategies to develop loan and deposit originations to include associate training, outbound sales calling programs, email, and direct mail and recapture programs.
  • Educate and promote the use of multiple delivery channels for member convenience.
  • Participates in Credit Union functions.
  • Must display a pleasant, professional style on the job and follow guidelines established in the Credit Union policy manual, including the Code of Ethics, dress code and attendance areas.
  • Systematically develop reports for senior management.
  • Gather, read, retrieve and interpret data from reports.
  • Obtains loan application packages from loan officer, financial centers and checks for missing financial information and documentation.
  • Spreads financial statements utilizing commercial loan software.
  • Prepares projected cash flow statements for rental properties being purchased by borrowers.
  • Prepares business cash flow statements and rental property cash flow statements for existing properties.
  • Runs credit bureau reports for potential borrowers and businesses.
  • Prepares credit write-ups for potential borrowers utilizing standard credit report format.
  • Compiles questions about potential borrower and credit report for loan officer.
  • Makes revisions to credit report as necessary.
  • Distributes copies of final credit report write-up to members of the Loan Committee.
  • Completes loan approval form for signature at Loan Committee meeting.
  • Completes sales log, listing existing services that business member has, and gives to loan officer in order to facilitate cross-sales by loan officer.
  • Completes financial statement log in order to facilitate keeping financial statement tickler up-to-date.
  • Updates financial statement tickler book.
  • Sends out requests for financial statements to existing borrowers.
  • Logs in all incoming financial statements and puts in priority order to be reviewed.
  • Updates write-ups on existing borrowers with requested financial information.
  • Provides back-up to Loan Operations Supervisor as necessary.
  • Monitors NSF activity on all business accounts and makes courtesy calls to first-time NSF accounts and accounts with business loans.
  • Provides loan information to VP Lending for completion of Call Report.
  • Monitors new business accounts to be sure paperwork is filled out properly.
 
Reports To
This position reports to the Vice President of Lending.
 
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field of study or possess equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum five years commercial lending experience. Knowledge of financial analysis and the ability to analyze information and make sound loan decisions.
  • Management: Must possess strong management, coaching, mentoring and interpersonal skills that facilitate collaboration in a team environment..
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of laws and regulations governing commercial and consumer lending practices as well as collection practices.
  • Communication: Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills in addition to strong organizational and analytical skills, an intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of the organization.
  • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet use required to produce reports and presentations.
  • Physical requirements: Must be able to travel to all Branch locations on an as needed basis.
  • Other: A proven record of confidentiality at a high level is required. Ability to prioritize, organize time and to work independently. Ability to get along well with people and maintain composure, poise and patience when dealing with members and employees
