Common Scams

Text Message Fraud
It has been brought to our attention that a fraudulent TEXT MESSAGE is being circulated among cellular phones. This text message states that your account will be locked, and you must call a phone number to prevent this from happening. THIS TEXT MESSAGE DID NOT ORIGINATE FROM AMERICU.

New: Credit Card Scam Alert
No one will call you and ask for your card number or the CVV code on the back of your check/debit or credit card (three digit number). The only time that number is used is when you are purchasing. There is currently a scam wherein a person may call posing as a Fraud or Security staff member from your card issuer, pretending to check for fraudulent activity. They may have your card number, but if they ask for your CVV code, DO NOT give it to them.
