This Sunday’s Sports Spotlight features our teammate David, who is a dedicated youth girls basketball coach with the Canastota Raiders!🏀

What started as an opportunity to support his daughter’s passion quickly grew into a commitment to his community and own personal love for the game! The connections made with his team and their families have made it an amazing experience, constantly emphasizing the importance of teamwork, dedication, and bettering yourself daily.

United Way Volunteerism

AmeriCU teammates Alicia and Tiffany recently spent their time volunteering at the United Way of the Mohawk Valley Flapjack Fundraiser!🥞 All funds raised went towards Catholic Charities of Oneida and Madison Counties’ Christmas Assistance Program, providing assistance for those who need a little extra support.

Seeing the community connect over a nice breakfast in support of something bigger was so special – a shining example of what’s possible when we come together!💙

Financial Center Spotlight – Armory Square

We are proud to connect 12 deserving students with a $1,000 scholarship toward their continuing education!📚

Our teammate Travis is a prime example of how impactful connections can come in many shapes and forms!🎈 He has always had a love for performing magic and creating balloon animals, and happily shares his time and talents with families within his hometown!

Walk to End Alzheimer’s

AmeriCU teammates proudly joined this weekend’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Syracuse – a powerful event that hits close to home for so many.💜

Alzheimer’s touches countless lives, including those of our own teammates and their families. As part of our 75 Days of Connections initiative, this walk was a meaningful opportunity to unite as one while raising awareness and supporting the fight to end this disease.

Sunday Sports Spotlight

This Sunday’s Sports Spotlight showcases our teammate Mark who volunteers his time coaching AYSO soccer!⚽

Inspired by his dad who coached him, Mark has loved carrying that tradition on to coach his son and the many kids who have found enjoyment through the game. It’s always impactful watching the team progress and gain confidence, and he’s proud to create a lasting influence while providing the perfect mixture of teaching and fun!

AmeriCU Night at Utica Univerity Hockey

AmeriCU Night at last night’s Utica Pioneers hockey game was a great success, and we had the best time chatting and connecting with you all!🏒

Today’s 75 Days of Connections highlight is one of hope and healing, as we feature teammate Kristie and her impactful involvement with the Center for Family Life and Recovery.💜

In memory of her daughter Megan, Kristie has remained dedicated to sharing her personal journey to spread education, prevention, and transform pain into purpose. She hopes to help others feel less alone, support those currently navigating these challenges, and break the stigma and silence around addiction.

After joining the AmeriCU team in 2023, Amanda was eager to get more involved in her local community to connect with members even beyond the normal workday! This Sunday’s Sports Spotlight features our North Utica Financial Center Manager, Eric, who is a dedicated varsity basketball coach at RFA!🏀

He has always had a passion for the game and teamwork, and coaching was the ideal next step after playing himself! Eric is passionate about showcasing how encountering adversity and working together to overcome a challenge is essential for young players growing into adulthood.

National Marrow Donor Program

Our teammate Shaela is a shining example of how one connection can change everything!❤️ Many years after joining the National Marrow Donor Program, she received a call this past March that she was a match for an individual in the UK. Despite life pulling her in every direction at that moment, Shaela leaned in and said yes!

Her decision to donate was a powerful reminder that compassion can connect us even across the furthest distances and trying circumstances. Thank you Shaela for choosing to selflessly show up when it meant most, giving someone the chance to keep thriving.

Utica-Rome CU Chapter Dinner

Last night, AmeriCU was proud to host the Utica-Rome NYCUA Chapter Dinner, bringing together credit union leaders to connect and collaborate!⭐

Karen LaPlante, Chief Talent Officer, and Ethan Spelman, VP of Member Experience, shared powerful insights during their presentation, A Connected Culture: Small Steps, Big Impact – reminding us that meaningful change starts with intentional connection.

These events truly reinforce the value of coming together to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and elevate the overall member experience. We are excited to continue collectively building a strong foundation for financial wellbeing in our communities!

Clothing Drive – Alzheimer’s Assocation

Today’s 75 Days of Connections celebrates Danielle – an AmeriCU teammate who dedicates her time to the Alzheimer’s Association of Central New York in memory of her dad.💜

Danielle currently serves as an Executive Board Member and committee member for planning the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. She has made it her mission to connect our communities with the available services and knowledge surrounding Alzheimer’s to spread awareness. Just recently, AmeriCU was able to partner with the Association to bring educational sessions to our teammates!

Day 26 of AmeriCU’s 75 Days of Connections recognizes Melinda, who gives her time and heart to the RFA Marching Band as a dedicated Road Crew volunteer!🎺

As a proud volunteer and band mom, Melinda has spent years supporting the band – helping move equipment, cheering on the students, and celebrating their continued growth. She has loved being surrounded by a group of smart, funny, talented young individuals that work hard to reach their goals!

As part of AmeriCU’s 75 Days of Connections, we’re shining a Sunday Sports Spotlight on Brandon – celebrating how he brings heart, hustle, and mentorship to youth hockey in Rome!🏒

Encouraged by teammates, Brandon stepped into coaching to share knowledge, build confidence, and help players chase their goals. Winning their first championship was an unforgettable moment, lighting the kids’ faces up with joy and serving as a reflection of the dedication and teamwork they’ve built!

Brandon’s commitment to mentoring young athletes shows how strong connections create stronger communities!

Cancer Initiatives

Today’s 75 Days of Connection shines a light on Anthony – a teammate who has turned personal challenges into powerful impact. As a childhood Leukemia survivor, Anthony knows the importance of empathy and showing up for others.❤️

During his first year of healthy remission, Anthony bravely stood in front of a crowd and shared his story before shaving his head to raise nearly $1,000. While intimidating, this moment showed him the true power of volunteering and the impact of using personal experience to connect with families facing the same fight.

I Love My Park Day

Day 12 of AmeriCU’s 75 Days of Connection recognizes Katie, who expressed her love for the outdoors during her annual volunteering for I Love My Park Day! Through the rainy weather, she showed up and helped clean up the local parks to keep them beautiful and accessible.🌳💙

Katie reminds us that connection is everywhere, and can be as simple as investing in the spaces that bring us all together! Thank you to the many volunteers across the state who joined in preserving both community and nature!

Girl Scouts

Jenny brings her passion for empowerment and connections to life by leading financial literacy presentations for Girl Scout Troops, helping them earn their My Money Plan and Budget Makers badges!🎖️

As a woman in leadership, these teachings go beyond just budgeting. Jenny creates a focus around sparking curiosity, instilling confidence, and encouraging meaningful conversations to help young girls see that they have the power to shape their futures. She’s proud to guide them – one badge and connection at a time!💙

Connection is at the heart of everything we do, and ACUMA’s 2025 Annual Conference in Denver was a powerful reminder of that!🤝

The AmeriCU team made their mark not only by attending, but by leading in conversations across multiple panels. From Intelligent Verification and Marketing to Volume-Based Roundtables and C-Suite conversations, the full team shared insights, sparked dialogue, and built bridges with leaders throughout the industry.

Today we shine a spotlight on Honor Flight Syracuse Mission 23, which recently returned from Washington D.C. 💙
