AmeriCU Receives Ralph W. Hillman Award
May 30, 2012
Mark Pfisterer, President and CEO of AmeriCU Credit Union, announced that the organization was selected as the recipient of the Ralph W. Hillman Award, which recognizes Credit Unions for the support of shared branching efforts. AmeriCU increased shared branching acquirer volume by 78 percent in 2011.
The Ralph W. Hillman Award annually distinguishes a Credit Union for their Shared Branching support, consisting of creating awareness and promoting its benefits. Shared branching offers the opportunity for Credit Union members to make deposits, withdrawals, balance inquires, transfers, cash checks, and apply for loans at a Credit Union service center different from their own. Shared branching allows members to avoid service fees that could result from these transactions at other financial institutions.
In 2011, AmeriCU Credit Union introduced a revised mobile application for the iPhone and Android, which integrates with smart phone GPS to locate the shared branching center within the closest proximity. In addition to the application AmeriCU produced newsletter articles, and launched a campaign through social media avenues to promote the service. AmeriCU Credit Union attributes a large amount of the organization’s success to employee education.
“We are very proud to present the 2012 Ralph W. Hillman Marketing Award to AmeriCU Credit Union”, stated Mark Inger, COO of UsNet. “They have worked consistently throughout the past year to increase the awareness of shared branching amongst their members and peer credit unions. Their efforts have resulted in impressive levels of both member acceptance and network usage, and we are pleased to recognize them.”
