CNY Veterans Day Parade + Expo, NYS Fairgrounds, Saturday, November 10th!

Join AmeriCU at the CNY Veterans Day Parade + Expo, at the NYS Fairgrounds, Saturday, November 10th!

PARADE: The CNY Veterans Parade, kicking off at noon, will have about 90 participating groups this year, including the West Point Drill Team, the 10th Mountain Division, the 174th Attack Wing, high school marching bands, and veterans organizations from across Central New York and as far away as Utica, Rochester, and Watertown. The parade, along with the expo, will acknowledge the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, the 60th anniversary of the Korean War and the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.

EXPO: The CNY Veterans Expo, being held from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Center of Progress Building, will feature activities, historical displays and information of military and veteran's interest. Among the more than forty veterans or military themed kiosks and displays are tables hosted by Clear Path for Veterans (an organization providing counseling services); USO at Fort Drum; Team Red, White and Blue (an organization using athletics to help wounded soldiers); Adopt-A-US-Soldier (an organization collecting supplies to ship to deployed soldiers, see list below); and the Syracuse VA Medical Center. There will also be displays that include: military memorabilia and uniforms from as far back as WWII; a display featuring artifacts from Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War; a display by the Korean War Veterans Digital Memorial which features video interviews of Korean War Veterans; Vehicles and displays by local military units and parade sponsors.

The performance schedule for the Expo is: 11 a.m. Baldwinsville Community Band; 1:30 p.m. a Ceremony Thanking Our Soldiers; 2 p.m. West Point Drill Team and 2:45 p.m. Rhythm-airs (live big-band music).
