AmeriCU teammates remain dedicated to the communities we serve through volunteerism, working collaboratively with nonprofit partners, and giving back to our members. Recently, credit union teammates, Tiffany Abele, AVP of Talent Solutions and Cara White, AVP of Insurance and Wealth Services, successfully completed the Leadership Mohawk Valley program through the Center for Leadership Excellence.

Leadership Mohawk Valley is a civic engagement program for community leaders that promotes change and stability within the community. Participants build their leadership skills, gain knowledge about community issues, and explore the Mohawk Valley. Programs such as Leadership Mohawk Valley help organizations like AmeriCU cultivate an environment centered around active involvement and talent growth. These initiatives foster a culture that encourages teammates to engage, contribute, and to develop their skills and abilities.

To graduate from the program, participants had to complete a special project. This year the class elected to work with Hospice & Palliative Care to build a kindness garden for the patients and their families. They planted flowers, painted rocks with inspirational pictures and quotes, and they worked with a local company to create two butterfly benches for the garden. This project brought participants together to engage, collaborate, and inspire others. It showcased their leadership in addressing the needs of the community and their commitment to making a meaningful impact.

Tiffany recognizes the blessings her family has received from the Mohawk Valley and aspires to foster its growth, ensuring it remains a nurturing place for families to flourish. This program has provided Tiffany with a new circle of friends and colleagues who share a similar passion for the success of the Mohawk Valley.

As Cara grows as a leader at AmeriCU, she feels she is also able to grow within our community as well. Leadership Mohawk Valley introduced Cara to businesses and non-profits that are making a difference within the footprint AmeriCU serves. This program allowed Cara to make amazing connections with her classmates that she will stay in touch with beyond the program.
