ROME, NY – MARCH 31, 2025: AmeriCU Credit Union is pleased to announce the appointment of Vanessa Szwejbka as the new Community Relations Manager and Executive Director of the AmeriCU Charitable Foundation. In this role, Vanessa will lead AmeriCU’s community engagement initiatives and oversee the Foundation’s efforts to make a meaningful impact.

Vanessa brings a strong background in communications, public engagement, and community service. She spent 15 years in broadcasting as a meteorologist across Central New York, the North Country, and the Southern Tier before transitioning to community relations, most recently working with the Downtown Committee of Syracuse to highlight local businesses and events.

Committed to community service, Vanessa and her husband actively support several organizations, including Second Chance Canine Adoption Shelter, AURORA of Central New York, and Friends of Fillmore, often emceeing events to raise awareness for these causes. Her commitment to giving back aligns perfectly with AmeriCU’s vision to support the communities it serves.

“I have been an AmeriCU member for 15 years and have always admired the work they do to serve their members and communities,” said Vanessa. “I was thrilled to come on board in this position and continue the good work AmeriCU is doing.”

As the Executive Director of the AmeriCU Charitable Foundation, Vanessa will focus on expanding the Foundation’s reach and strengthening partnerships with local organizations. “What’s important to our members is important to AmeriCU,” Vanessa added. “I look forward to building relationships with organizations across the communities we serve and finding opportunities to give back and have a meaningful impact for years to come.”

Vanessa holds a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from SUNY Oswego. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring New York State Parks with her husband and their two rescue dogs, Tank and Rocket.
